Condolence & Memory Journal

A few years ago, in the summer of 2015 I think, I had the great pleasure of taking my mother Rita, Vince's sister to visit with Uncle Vince at his home in New Lenox. We sat for hours as I listened to Vince and my mom talk about EVERYTHING. It was stunning to me how much I learned about our families' histories and how clear and concise Vince was in describing events from decades ago. These spanned experiences from Emington, Streator and even Australia in World War II. Vince was a joy to spend time with and my mom was visibly happy to be able to spend time with him. He was such a great brother to my mom, an outstanding Uncle and excellent human being. I will always remember and appreciate him.

Like my Dad, Uncle Vince was a member of the Greatest Generation a Illinois farm boy who left home to fight in WW II. He returned to Illinois, married Dad's sister Annie, and raised four great kids. And like my Dad, he was a great husband, father, son and son-in law, and uncle. Although my childhood memories are cloudy, as an adult I always enjoyed visiting with him when I returned home to Illinois to visit Mom and Dad and he was always welcoming. Although she only met him a couple of times, Monica always described him as a dear, sweet, man and I couldn't agree more. We are very sorry for your loss and hope you can take comfort in the knowledge that he has been reunited with Annie and all those who have gone before him. We wish we could be with you to celebrate his life but know that our thoughts and prayers are with you.

So sorry to hear this, I loved to stop and visit him when I was in town. He was so sweet. We were neighbors from the 50s through the 70s. Love from the Reilly family.

I'm very fortunate to have known Uncle Vince and had the experience of seeing a truly great man with a positive outlook on life. He was always happy to see you and one of those people that just made you feel better just by being with him. I know the entire family is grateful for all of the years with him and we are very sorry for your loss.
