Memories & Candles
I met Karen while she was working with students and I was doing Meals on Wheels from the township building in New Lenox. What a blast of a lady she was! She fought the good fight when the paraprofessionals were unionizing at Lincoln-Way and then with the demon that eventually took her life. Every inch of the way Karen showed her tough but gentle nature, serious yet humorous demeanor, and her steadfast love for friends and family. Lord, we will certainly miss her.

Karen, my neighbor, my friend. Words cannot express the weight of my heart and the emptiness it feels. You become so much more than a neighbor after all these years and I will miss you more than words can express. I will cherish the time we spent together and the memories. Rest my friend and know how much you were loved.

Even so, there is a tremendous sense of relief among Karen's loved-ones, including myself, knowing she is no longer tormented by the cancer she battled with for nearly three years. Karen did not fear the Earthly concept of death, as her faith in God's plan for what
